Opportunity to have a Social Work Student at your Organisation

Did you know that you don’t need a qualified Social Worker at your organisation to host a Social Work Student Placement?

UWS is inviting agencies to register an expression of interest in supervising UWS Social Work students on placement in your agency for the 2nd half of 2013, with students spending 600 hours at agencies from mid-June to mid-November. The Bachelor of Social Work students are seeking to learn skills and knowledge in the practice methods of working with individuals and families, group work, community work, welfare sector research, social action and social policy.

You can fill out the online Expression of Interest form here. Completing this Expression of Interest online does not commit you and your agency to taking a student but it does indicate that you are happy to be approached by UWS in order to consider a placement within your agency.
Students will be matched to a placement and the contact person will be advised by the student’s Field Coordinator.  A pre-placement interview between student and contact person will then be arranged.

WSCF has had several Social Work student placements over the past few years, and has benefitted greatly from this arrangement. We are more than happy to share our experiences and provide assistance to services who are completing the expression of interest.

For more information contact Neil Hall from UWS (n.hall@uws.edu.au) or Tom Nance from WSCF (tomn@wscf.org.au).
