HACC is short for Home And Community Care program, which is a joint Australian Commonwealth, State and Territory government initiative. The program helps frail old people and people with a disability, who would otherwise be prematurely or inappropriately admitted to residential care, to live independently in their own home. In New South Wales, HACC is administered by the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC).

Western Sydney Interagency HACC Fees Protocol
Update, August 2010:
The Reference Group is almost done polishing up the Draft version of the Fees Protocol. We are getting ready to invite a few service providers to TRIAL the Protocol, along with its tools. If your local HACC Forum is interested to know more about the Fees Protocol and its tools (for assessing client financial disadvantage, fee reduction and fee capping), please contact WSCF HACC Development Officer. We expect to start engaging service providers for trialling by October 2010. Detailed guidelines will be made available then. If your need is urgent and you would like to trial the tools asap, please contact WSCF HACC Development Officer.
Background:
The Interagency HACC Fees Protocol Reference Group (formerly Working Group) was formed in November 2009 to develop a regional protocol that will address recurring issues related to HACC fees. A Draft Protocol was developed, reviewed and refined at this level, prior to rolling out in local HACC Forums for consultation.
For background information on the issues, please see "Regional HACC Interagency Fees Protocol: Do we need it?" - WSCF presentation at WS Regional HACC & CC Forum held 7 Oct 2009.
